A native Vermonter, born and raised in Morrisville, VT, Norm Wolfe's guitar playing has graced the North Country for the past four decades. He has performed regularly at the Canoe Club in Hanover, and sits in on guitar as often as his schedule will allow with the acclaimed Vermont Jazz ensemble. He previously held a trumpet chair with the group. His work as music director for the Hartford and Dresden School Districts has been widely praised by students and parents alike. He performed with major rock groups throughout Vermont before choosing jazz as his venue.

 

Bassist Peter Concillo, as a young player, was inspired and encouraged by Connecticut tenor player Don DeFala, with whom he worked for many years. He retired to the Upper Valley in 2001, following a career teaching English, Philosophy and Film, and promoting jazz concerts. This summer he taught "Keeping the Jazz Journal" to participants at Fred Hass and Sabrina Brown's" Interplay Jazz Camp," and is currently working as executive producer of pianist Eugene Uman's new CD, which is slated for release next year.

Wednesday, September 2 – Evan Carey

 

Born in Lebanon, NH, Evan has lived in Spain since 2005 where he
studies and works as a flamenco guitarist under world-renowned  master
'El Entri' Aquilino Jimenez. He holds a diploma from Madrid's dedicated flamenco school, Amor de Dios, where he accompanies flamenco song and dance and perfects solo technique. He plays a variety of classic flamenco compositions by Paco de Lucia, Mario Escudero and Sabicas and also performs original material. He will be in the Upper Valley area for a limited time before returning to Spain in September 2009.

 

 

Thursday, September 3 – Doug Henry

 

Henry's acoustic blend of original and retro favorites represents an enthusiastic, eclectic journey from 60s classics to 70s folk, including a new chapter featuring his own songs.

Em has also performed in musical groups such as ONE EYE OPEN, Sweet Medicine, and with guitar virtuoso David Newsam singing classic and contemporary jazz, folk and pop tunes from Diana Krall, Eva Cassidy and Nora JonesSongs in the Key of Em , Em's first album with David Newsam is currently available.

 

David resides in Manchester, NH and teaches guitar at Dartmouth College, Berklee College of Music, and the University of New Hampshire. He recently returned from a tour of Germany with the Back Bay Guitar Trio.
